| 1468362 | 2020-04-28 23:14:00 | And the Aussies have an Excise Tax of 43.3c and 10% GST on the total (Yep they tax a tax too) and still sell the stuff for under $1. 79c in places the other day. 10328 lets not forget we have an extra regional fuel tax (in Ak) . Thats NOT included in the petrol tax figures for some reason. I guess its somehow a tax thats not a tax so add an extra 10c in tax , add gst on that So we in Ak pay more in petrol tax than Aus pays for petrol ? |

| 1468363 | 2020-04-29 01:09:00 | Hmmm . Deputy Prime Minister Winston Peters wants to bring more manufacturing back to New Zealand as the country rebuilds its economy . Peters delivered a strong rebuke to decades of New Zealand trade policy, warning of the "pitfalls of globalism" . Speaking to Newstalk ZB this morning, Peters said that "it makes sense to take the New Zealand option," meaning manufacturing products domestically, if it could be made for within 50 per cent of the international price . He said it made sense to manufacture things in New Zealand, even if they were slightly more expensive, because it meant the money spent on manufacturing them would circulate around the New Zealand economy before heading offshore . "The pitfalls of globalism have been laid out dramatically before us," Peters said . He said jobs in the recovery should be filled by New Zealanders . "If the job can be filled by a New Zealander, then that job should be filled by a New Zealander trained, skilled, and paid properly to do it" . He also said the benefits of foreign investment should be balanced against the pitfalls of foreign ownership . "We need to put up the shutters to more offshore ownership of this country's economy and go back to owning as much of it as we possibly can," Peters said . Peters has long been a critic of unfettered globalisation and the turn towards more free market economic policies in the 1980s . He's approaching getting my vote . . . . . Perhaps . I always thought he was just a mouth, but this I do agree with . |

Just look at the foreigners' stranded in Queenstown, shame on ngai tahu and those other employers'. Went for a stroll on the beach yesterday, in a pair of leather sandals that I was given for a present from one of my early girl friends. They were rather tight fitting, but with heart medication, one does get puffy feet. Used to wear them to Napier's Westshore beach for years. Real NZ leather and NZ brass buckles. lurking. |
