1467645 2020-03-29 04:48:00 My wife is hit by the 'unpaid leave' because of the pandemic.
She's cutting off her nose to spite her face ( so to Speak)

There's thousands of people who have lost all income from this Virus. At first I was not going to BUT when I talked to my accountant, he said its GST free, but still classed as income, (so you still have to pay tax on it. Next Year - I'm talking Self Employed like myself).

My works gone from Normal to Zero, so lets say 100% down to 0% income, most of my work evolves going to peoples places /work which is OUT OF BOUNDS for the moment. Cant survive on the wife's income alone (she's working from home on full pay).

There may be the odd job I can do Via Remote control, but VERY few.

Applied for it the other week, and it appeared in my bank account within 1 week.

100% appreciate where she's coming from, but from someone who knows, she's gonna regret it.

Correct there are people who are disabled and who can not work the state should look after them. There are a lot of people who suffer PTSD from work. Works starts by getting out of bed early. Dont give the cant find work **** there are jobs galore and we have to bring immigrants in to do them.

You make a good point prefect.

A mate of mine has a large Kiwi Fruit orchard.

I challenged him about having so many foreign workers and so few Kiwi’s.

He looked me straight in the eye and replied: “ Bob, if I relied on Kiwi’s to pick the fruit it would still be on the vine”.

I thought about it for a millisecond and replied “Good on you Mate”. ;)

1467648 2020-03-29 08:15:00 I agree with some of your points prefect, but please don't generalize. Its like saying all politicians are "snout in the trough" experts....... Oh s**t, I shot myself in the foot and lost the argument with that :)

Stop with the soap box about bludgers.

Wainuitech has the idea, look at his situation, I am talking about people affected by the lockdown.

Now his wife is still being paid, what happens if the lockdown extends and her workplace says sorry, can't keep it up?
Or goes broke anyway........

Many places will, take a look at comments on the news articles, many business owners talking about it now, they can't sustain the debt themselves.
And they have their own bills to pay too.

You don't think sometimes, just react with your usual rant.

1467651 2020-03-30 02:11:00 Thats helpful. Not.
I'm sure heaps of people will be rushing to "help" the few remaining companies looking for workers........so sad that most won't succeed.

Very important and too seldom thought of. Can't go one way only. The govt is borrowing tons right now. We have to pay that back plus interest.$$$

Yes, the present restrictions must be a terrible disappointment to the Funeral Homes.

Based on John F. Kennedy's 1961 presidential inauguration speech I think. ;)
