| 1249166 | 2011-12-17 20:28:00 | The BIOS doesn't detect my Kingston HyperX (KHX1600C9D3K2/8GX) frequency correctly (auto detected as 1333) when set to Auto (default). I've manually set it to 1600 which boots up OK and Windows works OK till now. Will this manual setting of RAM frequency cause any problem? |

| 1249169 | 2011-12-17 22:31:00 | There are a few reasons for that, for example sandybridge processors set the RAM to the default speed of the CPU memory controller regardless of the RAMs rating. Also my DDR3 1600 RAM is set to default to 1333 in the SPD and only uses 1600 if I activate the XMP feature of the motherboard or set it manually as you did. Motherboard BIOS often lets you overide it as you have done, but defaulting to a lower than rated speed is fairly normal. As long as you don't exceed what the RAM is specified for it should be perfectly fine. |
