1248727 2011-12-15 02:49:00 My new MB has got 2 x 6Gb SATA port. Can I plug a 3Gb SATA drive into the 6Gb port? How do I know whether my HDD is 6Gb or 3Gb? bk T (215)
1248728 2011-12-15 02:52:00 Do a search in Google for the model of the hdd. A SATA 2 hdd should work on a SATA 3 system. It just wont run at SATA 3 speed Speedy Gonzales (78)
1248729 2011-12-15 07:19:00 Yeah its just like having a CAT6 cable which will happily do gigabit network speeds, when your switch and network card are only 100mbps.
It'll work, but it won't improve the speed, the HDD is *going* to be the bottleneck.
