The about face we see now may be in part a result of the marketting muscle of the egg industry. Much like the cigarette industry and the cellphone industry, we may never get past all the bulls... enough to know what the science really is saying... until it's too late for a generation or two of us. | Paul.Cov (425) | ||
| 1223961 | 2011-08-17 11:09:00 | I remember my Grandfather laughing at the news years ago ... parsnips caused cancer ... he was 98 and loved his roast parsnips, or parsnip & carrot mash. Eggs .. about a tray a month between the two of us, but that's with the wife baking at times too. |

I eat about 10 a week myself, love eggs but 30 eggs seems a bit much! The only guy I know who eats at least 30 eggs a week is a bodybuilder. He's had his cholesterol checked, nothing out of the ordinary. But of course keep in mind not everybody is the same.... As Dr Ames, one of the first doctors to study carcinogens, said that if you have all things in moderation you have nothing to worry about. |

The thinking then was that eating foods relatively high in cholesterol also raised the body cholesterol. In more recent years the medico pundits have discounted this idea Yes, the food police change their minds often, in another 50 years they'll be laughing at what we are told now. I think cholesterol and it's supposed relationship to heart disease is one of those things that will be included in that. |

| 1223967 | 2011-08-17 23:11:00 | I love eggs, eat a tray of 30 every week. Don't eat much meat. My Doctor tells me that eggs are one of the best foods available, and not harmful. On the other hand, 'her indoors' has been told by her Doctor that eggs are bad for you and she should limit her intake to 2 a week! Neither of us has a cholesterol problem. Be lucky if I eat 30 eggs a year. :) |
