| 1249860 | 2011-12-21 03:13:00 | Hi, Currently I have Dyanalink RTA1025W wireless modem. I want to upgrade it to really good modem which can be as fast as possible. Basically I want to access video faster from my Samsung LED TV UA40D6600 through its inbuilt wi-fi. Same way I want to watch video for my Laptop that have inbuilt wi-fi. I study little bit and found, I should buy modem that support 802.11n and ADSL2. I have few question before I buy new modem. (1) Should I buy two or three antenna modem? As I got inbuilt wi-fi in my TV and laptop, does more antenna will improve the speed? (2) I heard that ADSL2+ is not yet in New Zealand. So If the ISP say ADSL2+ it is still ADSL2 in New Zealand? Please explore this. Is ADSL2+ M is in New Zealand or not? (3) Finally the most important: Please suggest me the best wireless modem for these needs. Thank you in advance. |

| 1249863 | 2011-12-21 05:49:00 | Thanks for reply. I have Slingshot Broadband 50 plan. It is Full/Full speed plan i.e. Download speed = 17Mbits/S. And Upload 0.8MBits/S. They said I got ADSL2 and/or ADSL2+ as ADSL2+ is yet not in New Zealand. I do not know, how far I am from slingshot node? My most concerns are: If I buy with three antenna, will it helful? Or as my TV and Laptop got inbuilt wi-fi(I think one antanna), it will not help whether I got one antenna modem or three. And if you guys have any recommendation for Good Wireless Modem. |

| 1249864 | 2011-12-21 08:36:00 | The recent standard for wireless is 802.11g which operates at 54Mbps. The newer standard is 802.11n which begins at 100Mbps. So unless you are loading your wireless with other traffic 54Mbps will handle internet traffic fine! If you want to use 802.11n bear in mind that you will need 802.11n wireless network cards in the remote devices (which you may already have?). Multiple antennae may help if you have a difficult transmission path or the distances are longer. |
