1249856 2011-12-21 02:25:00 Strange things come my way but this is the strangest yet.

After a successful install of the latest Safari on my XP SP3 system, this weird thing happens when I type something into (for example) a google search field. Every letter I type once gets duplicated x2. So the word "plus" gets rendered as "pplluuss". Go figure.

Have I been hijacked by aliens from Arcturus? My keyboard settings are ok.

Any ideas anyone please. Thanks!

1249858 2011-12-21 07:54:00 Thanks darkie. No, I only have this Logitech USB keyboard. This problem cannot be reproduced with any of the other main browsers. braindead (1685)
1249859 2012-02-20 23:19:00 For those of you who may be haunted by the Safari double letter bug, here is my solution (for my system):

The culprit was Keyscrambler, an anti-keylogging prog made by QFX Software.

When Keyscrambler was active, the double-letter thing happened when typing into any Safari form fields. Disabling Keyscrambler solved the problem.

I discovered this accidentally by going to XP's Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager > Keyboards, and looking at the driver details for my Logitec USB keyboard. The Keyscrambler driver was listed there so I thought there might be a connection. And there was.

I see a number of Safari double-letter complaints on the web and your particular reason for this fault may be different to mine. I've notified QFX about the fault.
