1225244 2011-08-23 03:15:00 On the prowl for a decent/fun flight sim.

Would prefer a WW2 based one, though not too fussy, any combat will be fine - not really on the lookout for a purely 'civy' one.

Anyone played one recently that wasn't too bad? Have fond memories of playing them when much younger and figured I'd give one a blast again.

Cheers :D

1225245 2011-08-23 03:25:00 I've got FS 2004, played only about 3 times, never registered, before I lost interest and went back to the real thing.

You can have it for a small donation to Red Cross or the City Mission. PM if you're interested. :D

1225247 2011-08-23 03:25:00 My son says Sturmovik is great, WW2 combat Flight simulator. You can get it on Steam for between $9.99 - $49.99. Depending on which game version you get. He says Sturmovik 46 is the cheapest one, but a goodie and quite challenging and fun!
Hope that is of some help.

1225249 2011-08-23 03:46:00 If you're after a more arcade-oriented than realistic-sim oriented game, check out World of Warplanes (http://worldofwarplanes.com/) which launches soon. inphinity (7274)

1225251 2011-08-23 07:07:00 Definitely IL2. Take a look here for info on our very active IL2 group.

KiwiSim IL2 Community (www.kiwisim.net.nz)

Also take a look at some of the skins one of our guys is doing here (www.axis-and-allies-paintworks.com)

The base game (version 4.07) will run just fine for offline play, we are currently using the current version 4.10.1 with what is called the UP mod.

A great bunch of guys with Teamspeak comms if you want to pit your skills against real people.
