1225237 2011-08-23 02:01:00 I know the new law is aimed at torrent downloaders of which I am not one, but I have downloaded the odd thing from time to time on youtube, does the new law make that illegal too? I have had a scan through and I can't see anything specific and can't find anything really on the youtube site either :help: gary67 (56)
1225238 2011-08-23 02:14:00 Why is everyone so worried about this new law?

1225239 2011-08-23 02:26:00 Technically if you're still infringing on copyright, you're still infringing on copyright... Which is illegal.

However, the new law is basically aimed purely at P2P software such as Emule / Limewire, and Torrents.

1225240 2011-08-23 02:29:00 do video streaming sites like vimeo etc come under the new law?? GameJunkie (72)
1225241 2011-08-23 02:52:00 Surely most videos on U-tube would be public domain and therefore not subject to copywrite laws. Bobh (5192)

I agree, it's up to YouTube to keep copywrited material off there.

1225243 2011-08-23 02:58:00 This new law doesn't make anything illegal that was previously legal. All it does is change the way copyright holders can look to enforce their respective copyright. inphinity (7274)
