1224587 2011-08-20 00:57:00 I am just wondering how do you divide your network so when fixing virus infected machines they cant access your own machine? nedkelly (9059)
1224588 2011-08-20 01:50:00 Didn't/don't have a network.

Mostly I would scan the PCs themselves, install anti-malware on them.
The few that were too infected I hooked up to the shop PC - they don't boot off it, and NOD and Counterspy would always block anything immediately before I'd even started the scan.

If (which never happened) the shop PC had caught anything, I would have just reimaged it anyway.

1224589 2011-08-20 02:36:00 Unplug the machine doing the scanning from the network gary67 (56)
1224590 2011-08-20 03:43:00 Quite simply dont plug them into the network to clean (as gary said) I'll clean them partly using programs from a USB drive, once clean enough then plug into the LAN to finish off.

As Pctek mentioned -- Nod or other software on the LAN PC's will stop any rouge infections anyway.

1224591 2011-08-20 08:07:00 Or just don't have any network shares write enabled, the only one that is by default in windows 7 is the public folder. dugimodo (138)

Back in the day, your PC could get infected even without that :p

1224595 2011-08-21 22:00:00 Of course you need your gigabit to access your 10m/bit internet connection ... ;) Chilling_Silence (9)

Mine is actually between 15-18.

And I need gigabit for all the file transfers I do between machines.
