May I suggest you Google Q10 after your treatment is finished, there is a lot of information it could be very helpful in larger doses, can't do you any harm, and if not helpful, you will at least have a heart in much better condition. 1225192 2011-08-25 08:51:00 Not really - but it likely is one factor that will lower the chances of getting it. Green tea, red wine and tomatoes also appear to be useful. One in four men is estimated to have prostate cancer by age 50, eight out of ten by age 70.

These are scary statistics.

1225193 2011-08-25 09:01:00 That's a thought, but the inference here is that non-******s are least likely to be afflicted

EDIT! I should have said *MOST* likely to be afflicted. :o

Well on the flip side many men will die of something else never having known they had prostate cancer. Like many stats, one can't be sure how accurate it is.

1225196 2011-08-25 09:45:00 These are scary statistics.

72.4% of statistics are made up on the spot.

1225197 2011-08-25 09:58:00 It is called brachytherapy and is a treatment for prostate cancer that involves putting around a hundred radioactive seeds into your prostate.

Remember not to be close to children or pre menopausal women.

The morning after the procedure a nurse will come into your room with a geiger counter / radioactive monitor, to see if any seeds are in the toilet that you may have passed. To have some fun, ask the nurse to put the detector close to you - my nurse got quite a fright (and ran out of the room) when the detector when beserk, but I thought it was cool. :nerd:

1225198 2011-08-25 10:03:00 Had to look it up, and in the process, I came across THIS - not for the fainthearted! (www.google.co.nz).

The sedative (or Valium?) makes the procedure OK.
Yes it does look awful but something that must be way worse is what women go through during childbirth.

Just as with breast cancer, the younger you are the more active the cancer.

Many elderly men have prostate cancer and leukaemia too but both are slow cancers at that stage of life and not usually causes of death.

1225200 2011-08-25 10:32:00 72 . 4% of statistics are made up on the spot .

This could well be a truer statistic .

There is always an element of error in statistics . A lot of people are not asked to take part in a poll, therefore only a sample proportion of people take part . Those that do take part will give on the spot answers that could be true, untrue or inaccurate . A lot of statistics can amount to guess work .
