1224151 2011-08-18 12:48:00 And I don't like this new numbering system.

Soon we will be on Firefox 108.

I agree. What happened to minor versions?
Or are they just copying Chrome (isn't that version 34 or something now?)

Seems to me they just want to release a new number every five minutes to give an impression of faster progress?

At least Opera's numbering still appears sane...

1224155 2011-08-19 00:41:00 On a related note (probably should post this in PressF1 rather than Chat), my FF just updated itself to 6 and I notice that I have multiple versions of Java Console (all disabled): 6.0.17, 6.0.20, 6.0.22 and 6.0.26. There is no apparent method to remove them - anyone have any hints? johcar (6283)

try this
Starting in Firefox 3.6, a "Java Console <version>" extension will appear in the Firefox "Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions" list for each Java version installed (previous to Firefox 3.6, these extensions were hidden). [41] Uninstalling Java should remove the Java Console. Updating Java 6 Update 10 or later will remove the previous Java version but may not uninstall the Java Console for that version, causing Firefox to accumulate multiple Java Console extensions. You can uninstall all Java Console extensions from the Firefox Extensions list, since this extension is obsolete and has no function (see below). On Windows, if the Uninstall button for the Java Console extension is "greyed-out", exit Firefox, reopen Firefox from the context (right-click) menu "Run as Administrator" option, then try again.
