1225121 2011-08-22 22:56:00 Hi all

Got to have an endoscopy done ... camera down throat ... and just wondering whether anyone else has had the same procedure done ??

They give two options :-

1) Throat spray to numb throat & relax vocal chords .. or
2) Sedation ... which I am liking the sound of more & more

Any thoughts ??

1225124 2011-08-22 23:58:00 Yes. It was anything but pleasant (but don't let me put you off). If it was necessary again, I'd opt for sedation.

Followed by the 6 pack when it's over.

Good luck.

1225126 2011-08-23 00:04:00 I went for the "while you are awake" method, only because I was to drive to Taupo as soon as the procedure had been completed.

I asked to be able to watch the procedings on the monitor - it helped keep my mind off the discomfort :)

1225127 2011-08-23 00:56:00 It was many years ago but I think I must have had sedation. Quite a weird feeling as you 'swallow' the scope to assist its' downward passage. Not too unpleasant though. user (1404)
1225128 2011-08-23 01:05:00 Sedation.

Husband opted for that, when I came back in after he was asking when they were going to start.........

1225129 2011-08-23 01:25:00 Have a $ each way. ;)

Get them to put a Luer in and then choose the spray.

If the spray doesn’t work as well as it should, they can revert straight away to sedation. ;)

However, if I were to have another one done I’d go straight with sedation.
