1224516 2011-08-19 10:19:00 Hi Guys

Recently been a guest of Ward 7 North, Wellington Hospital . Through the media you often hear how bad our hospital system is . Seems our hospitals get a knife in the back but here's a pat for a change .

All the Staff I came in contact with - from the Top Specialist to the Nurses and even the Cuppa Tea Guy treated me with extreme politeness and respect . Didn't exactly want to be there but all these people ensured I was as comfortable as possible .

Wellington Hospital Staff a big thanks .

1224517 2011-08-19 10:31:00 They revived me and put a pacemaker inside me.
1 week in a ICU ward. My own room, own bathroom, 24/7 rostered carers, a menu list with a starter and a dessert. At the time Sky wasn't installed yet :D

1224518 2011-08-19 11:48:00 Hospital is the last place that anybody wants to be. Good to know that you were well treated. I hope that you are much better now and back on your feet. Best of health. Bobh (5192)

1224521 2011-08-19 12:37:00 I was in for 12 days 2 years ago.
I agree with everything said so far except the food was unappetizing... but I did lose weight... maybe that was a good thing.
I don't begrudge my tax $ being spent (or taken).

1224522 2011-08-19 13:06:00 the food was decent .
i had terayaki pork or chicken . . . custard with apple crumble .
corned beef .
a stew .
think there was also ice cream :p

could only recall one meal i didn't like and that was some kind of steamed egg omelete .

you do get the bad side . there are those who are older and have little visitors and maybe the illness and/or their age that only so much could be done . . .

1224523 2011-08-19 21:59:00 Dad was in Ward6 at Wgtn a couple of weeks ago, have to agree with your comments, nomad.Care was good but dad reckoned that the hospital had shares in a carrot farm. Whenu (9358)

1224525 2011-08-19 22:56:00 I was in Wgtn Hospital about 40 years ago, after something went wrong and I nearly bled to death after daughter was born. I was told after two days, "You can go home if you can walk to the bathroom and back without collapsing, we are very busy and we need the bed". I went home the next day with a brand new first baby and a terrified husband.

I should hope that things have improved since then!
