1250754 2011-12-29 01:13:00 I've given up on optical media, as anything with a capacity larger than a CD has proved to be too unreliable in the long term.

I rely on a number of HDDs for my media storage, and now only burn to optical media when asked to by others if there is no alternative regarding the recipients hardware. Given that flash drives now have capacity to match DVD there's even less call for DVDs when sharing files.

Haven't burnt a disc in many many months.

Same with me. Though have imageburn on standby. Have not bothered looking for updates, or other burning software. Discarded dozens of unneeded burnt discs, due to neglect, or being somewhat outdated. I do have a few master discs (and drives) with photo's and documents.

1250756 2011-12-31 02:59:00 I use Active@ISO for ISOs. Don't really use DVDs other than a software ISO download. Ie., the MS Office Academic which is offered thru a download.

I just use the HDD for typical downloads and they go out of date, difficulty trawling thru the discs to get you what you want etc.

If I am just burning some photo's for someone, I just use the Win7 included software.

1250757 2011-12-31 03:27:00 I use Nero 9 full version. The reason I use it is because I'm use to it and know how it works.

1250758 2011-12-31 04:23:00 Windows 7 has burning built into it - so you don't really need anything else unless you want advanced features.

I use Nero 11 platinum - got it for NZ $79 with voucher discount for Xmas.

PC User magazine just reviewed the burning software and rated Roxio Creator 2012 Pro as the best one out there, Nero was second.

Burnaware Free, CDburnerXP and Infrarrecorder seem to be the pick of the free ones.
