1250743 2011-12-27 03:02:00 I only use Poweriso, dvd movie maker, or CDburnerXP. Depending on what I burn. No need to format, these programs do it for you Speedy Gonzales (78)
1250744 2011-12-27 03:18:00 I've given up on optical media, as anything with a capacity larger than a CD has proved to be too unreliable in the long term.

I rely on a number of HDDs for my media storage, and now only burn to optical media when asked to by others if there is no alternative regarding the recipients hardware. Given that flash drives now have capacity to match DVD there's even less call for DVDs when sharing files.

Haven't burnt a disc in many many months.

Yes I have quit a few hard drives nowadays.

But as you say, occasionally you need to backup to a DVD.

Great replies guys thanks

Is that quite a few or quit a few hard drives?

1250746 2011-12-27 09:26:00 I use Windows movie maker on the rare occasions I want to make a DVD from video file. For burning data DVD's or ISO's I just use the built in windows 7 tools. (drag and drop for data using explorer, for iso files right click and use the menu).
I don't burn a lot though so it doesn't matter to me what's better as long as it works.

As for backing up to DVD, nah personally I just backup to another hard drive.
