2011-12-29 07:36:00 | My 460 GPU is running rather hot at 55 deg but the fan speed runs at only 35%. Is there a way to control the fan speed and brings down the temp? | bk T (215) | |
2011-12-29 07:45:00 | If I were to add another case-fan, should I position the fan to blow in or suck out? At present, I have 2 fans drawing air out and only one blowing in from the front.

2011-12-29 08:50:00 | That, and 55 is quite acceptable. It'll automatically bump it up if the temperature was too high but it's happy to keep it lower / quieter :) | Chilling_Silence (9) | |
2011-12-29 09:27:00 | Is adding a case fan to improve air-flow a good idea? | bk T (215) | |
2011-12-29 09:49:00 | Potentially, though not specifically. Is that idle, or under-load temperature? | Chilling_Silence (9) | |
2011-12-29 20:48:00 | under about 50% load temperature. | bk T (215) | |
2011-12-29 21:03:00 | I have 2 case fans blowing air in, one above the cpu fan and the other above the graphics. When idling the cpu sits around 28 degrees and goes as high as 48 degrees at 100% load. The GPU idles around 30 degrees and goes up to 50 degrees when gaming. | ronyville (10611) | |
2011-12-29 21:11:00 | under about 50% load temperature. That's not CPU load, but game-load which is stressing the GPU, correct? Just wanting to clarify :)

2011-12-29 21:26:00 | It's fine, 460's thermal limit themselves at 99 and anything under 80 during full load is unlikely to be a problem. Download furmark, run it for 5-10 mins or until the graph flattens out and see what the worst case scenario looks like. Mine hit around 75 degrees with good airflow when I had 2 in SLI. Incidentally unless graphics cards are faulty you can take a fan running at 25-50% speed to mean the manufacturer doesn't consider that to be hot.
