2011-12-29 00:20:00 | I brought a dlink DSL-2730B today and i'm trying to get a static ip setup. I'm with telecom so I use these dns servers: 202.27.158.40 and 202.27.156.72. I have the default gateway set as 192.168.1.1 (the routers IP) and the subnet mask as 255.255.255.0 iirc. But whenever I click apply or whatever i get this error (img186.imageshack.us) and then the networks goes "undefined" and I cannot connect to the internet. Ideas? btw I'm setting the IP as 192.168.1.5 and I am connecting via wireless. | icow (15313) | |
2011-12-29 00:25:00 | If you click the Advanced button showing in your error screen shot, do you only have the one Defaulty Gateway listed? If there is more than one delete them until you only have the 192.168.1.1.

2011-12-29 01:03:00 | There wasn't any so I added 192.168.1.1. | icow (15313) | |
2011-12-29 01:40:00 | Means you've got a static IP for your physical network too. Set that to DHCP and see how you go with wireless working :) | Chilling_Silence (9) | |
2011-12-29 02:32:00 | and I am connecting via wireless Are you actually setting up the Router Via wireless as well ?? If so try it connected directly by Ethernet cable first. Had countless problems when trying to setup routers Via wireless. Once the settings are set, then it works fine.

2011-12-29 04:33:00 | Why is your DNS set to 192.168.1.1?? | Cato (6936) | |
2011-12-29 04:36:00 | Thanks Chill. Reserved an IP address via the DHCP settings (ftp://files.dlink.com.au/products/DSL-2730B/REV_A/SetupGuides/DSL-2730B_How_to_configure_DHCP_Reservation.pdf) and everything appears to be working. | icow (15313) | |
