| 1225610 | 2011-08-24 09:06:00 | TradeMe turned up nothing except big drills and milling drills. The ones I need are: 0.8mm for component holes 1mm for connectors 3mm for corner fixings These need to be carbide, to drill through fiberglass PCB without going blunt after 2 or 3 holes. Any sources gratefully appreciated! |

| 1225612 | 2011-08-24 09:39:00 | Hi Braindead Suggest you buy from Jaycars (www.jaycar.co.nz). They have a 20 Piece Micro Drill Set 0.3 - 1.6mm, for about $15.00. These are what I use. Then you could buy a 3mm drill from somewhere else. BURNZEE |

| 1225613 | 2011-08-24 13:37:00 | I bought a couple of the 0.8mm bits from Surplustronics. I believe they are the same as these from Jaycar (www.jaycar.co.nz). I don't know what type they are but they seem to work alright and I've done several boards with many holes in FR4 so far. You could also try eBay, they are more expensive but you can get 'proper' PCB drill bits, resharpened from factories etc. Still very good for hobby use apparently. Prior to that I had some pretty nice ones from DSE, bought years ago. but most have since snapped, sadly I did not have a drill press back then. It really does make a difference. So does etching your boards with a drill mark on the pads. |
