1227967 2011-09-01 03:54:00 Just had the worst one ever.

Agency hired on behalf of IT co, IT co on behalf of large govt organisation.

Was told it finished on the 7th. OK, fine delayed my other job until 8th,

Arrive 9:30am the first day and find it is supposed to finish on the 12th and oh, we don't work Fridays.

OK.........then the next 2 days it goes:
Arrive 10:00am, get told to get coffee until ready - this takes up to an hour. Do a bit of work (meant to do 1 per day, do 4 the first day), finish first part at 12:00. Go to lunch. Come back get told thats the unofficial lunch, go again for official lunch. Come back get told to get coffee as they're not ready yet.
Do a bit more work from around 1:30pm to about 2:30 or 3:30pm. Get told to go home.

After complaining about this joke, I get told don't worry you get paid for 8hrs even if it isn't and anyway it will be fine next week.
next week it disintegrates into a complete circus and becomes even worse.

Get paid for actual hours not 8hrs.
Quit and go start the real job early..........

Our taxpayers $ at work huh.
Now I remember why I hate Corporate IT. Especially projects.

1227969 2011-09-01 04:17:00 Situations like this suck, and is one of the reasons I'm now very picky with contracts before starting anything. If they want me available to them for 8 hours - even if they end up having zero work to do in that time, you will pay for 8 hours. Their lack of planning does not constitute a fault or emergency on my behalf. inphinity (7274)
1227970 2011-09-01 08:53:00 Nothing has changed. mikebartnz (21)
1227971 2011-09-01 20:34:00 And the agency had the cheek to say the problem was with me - I found it "not suitable". Hmm, yeah I guess, I like actually working, not sitting around with my finger up my nose. pctek (84)
