1227870 2011-08-31 19:05:00 With the new anti piracy laws coming in today I predict that sales of large hard drives will tail off markedly.

And who will need large data caps now ?

(Aside from Peter Jackson)

1227871 2011-08-31 19:12:00 I wonder whether sales of 3G modems will increase, and 3G data costs go down, given that 3G won't be included in this law until 2013. Zara Baxter (16260)

Who will need ADSL2

Might even have to seek Counseling to handle the new speed

1227873 2011-08-31 20:14:00 I think that by and large the people who do it regularly will still keep doing it. It's only going to stop the 'opportunist' from giving it a try, and it may potentially change some of the 'perception' around piracy and downloading movies. Chilling_Silence (9)

1227875 2011-08-31 22:44:00 I am in favour of this. Telecom sent me a letter saying my cap has been lifted from 10GB to 20GB at no extra cost to moi!!

I rang them back an cut my plan back to 10GB and now I save $10 a month. I don't think that is what they want?

1227877 2011-08-31 23:07:00 Yes you might find more people changing to a cheaper plan with there ISP as they no longer need the bigger cap.

1227878 2011-08-31 23:19:00 Yes, and I would not want to invest in that new second fibre optic cable to the USA, it will only be carrying emails ! Digby (677)
1227879 2011-08-31 23:29:00 Look at the up side to this new law, Maybe  some new places may just pop up, and actually allow people to legally pay for at a reasonable price good quality movies / music.

This was on fair go a while back (from memory) when asked the majority of people would quite happily pay a small fee to download good quality legal downloads - But when questioned the spokes person for the recording industry, why this service wasn't available in NZ, it was his attitude -- errrrrrrrr, ummmmm awhhhhhhh oh thats to much work , we would rather fine people. Maybe some one will set that up one day.

Ya think ??
