1226809 2011-08-29 02:09:00 Anyone here an expert on batteries or able to refer me to a company that is?

We have some survey gear here at work and the batteries aren't that flash, The replacement cost is $400 each :illogical.

So, I'm interested in if these are just a run of the mill battery with a real cost of $25.

Pics attached, the battery is about the size of your average mouse.

1226814 2011-08-29 07:23:00 Replace the cells in the pack with 2 of these packs (www.dealextreme.com). US$19.80 sounds better than NZ$400 especially if you say it really slowly. Shipping is included in the price, I've used quite a few of these and they perform impressively. They are unbelievably simple to assemble into a pack - soldering is kids play, unlike most cells. 1226816 2011-08-29 09:43:00 You could probably repack them and possibly with better amp/hour ones. mikebartnz (21)
1226817 2011-08-29 10:36:00 I would fully expect that they will buy the $400 batteries or nothing at all.

Its not my call, I'm not even in the division whose call it is, never even met the manager who would make the purchase decision.

But I did pass along the info and it was presented to him.

It would be madness to repack the batteries, any fault in the gear in the next 5 years would be blamed on anyone who done such a thing, if they were purchased as a unit then there would be someone to pass the buck onto.

Hence the "I would fully expect that they will buy the $400 batteries or nothing at all"

1226818 2011-08-29 11:54:00 Note that the company is in the Netherlands, and is offering a killer price and free delivery... sounds almost too good to be true.

Pity they don't handle batteries for my work gear.
