| 1227374 | 2011-08-30 13:02:00 | I have to say I'm a big fan of pretty much all the changes - I reckon the new theme looks a heck of a lot better than the old one did. The muted palette is nice - I personally don't have any trouble differentiating the various elements. I think that the ad placement is pretty good*, and vastly better than the way they were off to the side on the old theme. The ad in the first post is OK-ish; I'd rather it wasn't there, but in the scheme of things it's not too bad. Any additional inline ads get a definite thumbs-down though - I think the current ad slots are about as good as it gets. The only thing I can see that's really lacking at this point is a mobile theme - the sooner that happens the better! Thanks a million to the fine folks at PCW / Fairfax who made this upgrade happen, and thanks Zara for keeping us all posted :thumbs:. *Disclaimer: Yes, my 'nothing but the forum' CSS also removes all the ads. Obviously my personal preference is for none - I'd rather pay a small sub than see ads on here - but if there have to be ads, then the current placement is a decent compromise. |

| 1227376 | 2011-08-30 13:41:00 | I have tried various searches and it appears that they do not work as before.Looks like the search index just needs rebuilding - noting that this can cause some pretty heavy server load, I'm guessing they're either waiting for a quiet period in which to do it, or waiting until PressF1 is back on its usual server. Once the re-indexing is done, the forum search should return all applicable results, rather than just stuff posted or edited since the upgrade. |

I wonder if there's any way for us on this end to change the color contrast or intensity? The soft letters (color='soft gray') on the font is overwhelmed by the white background. Maybe it's the dreary-drab-muffled color season for youse guys in Upsidedown land - but we is into SUMMER yet with the vibrant dried browns of the trees and the orange and yellow of the fires and black/gray of the smoke which gets into out eyes this time of the year. |
