1252284 2012-01-05 07:18:00 Did you install Splashtop Connect VisualBookmark yourself ? Nah never heard of it before globe (11482)
1252285 2012-01-05 07:20:00 About Ask bar -- Going by the HJT log its not -- or did you do it after doing the log ?

sorry did the log before posting the question on the forum, ran the parse thingy and removed it after that, didnt rerun the log as it was still on my machine and the ask bar was the only thing I removed (hopefully).

1252286 2012-01-05 07:22:00 OK - using Revo as previously posted, rip out Splashtop Connect, thats one of the things thats showing as a nasty.

Revo in advanced mode allows you to rip out left over reg files and folders that a normal uninstaller leaves behind.

Also check the reli logs as mentioned. Never know what shows there :)

If you want to really see whats causing the problem - Have a read of this article (itexpertvoice.com) -- Its rather involved and goes indepth, but depends on how much you want to dig about the system.

1252287 2012-01-05 07:25:00 Haven't looked at your HJT log but I would check your HDDs SMART status with Speedfan or similar, my friend had major system slowdowns and it turned out he had hundreds of faulty sectors in his hard drive.

Replacing the drive solved the problems. speedfan shows no errors - 90% performance which sounds ok to me.

That sounds a bit low for a drive 6 months old... Did you run the in-depth online analysis? Can you post the results (take a screenshot, the link isn't copyable)

1252289 2012-01-05 07:28:00 To check out if anything is hanging on startup, click start, type in Reli Click on view Reliability History - once it opens there will be a detailed log with errors etc, if anything is a common error what is it ?

everything looks kosha. coupe of days ago when the problem started itunes crashed and I had to force shut down the pc, they show up.

yesterday error showing windows failed to start but unable to determine cause.

event prior to that was 16th Dec explorere stopped working

1252291 2012-01-05 07:33:00 You need to crop out all that white space.. can't read a thing! Agent_24 (57)
1252292 2012-01-05 07:55:00 Well that looks just fine.., I guess it's not the drive then! (although that 'write error' part seems a bit strange) In any case I doubt it would cause the problem you describe.

Maybe you should give that new 'Windows Defender Offline' scanner a try out?
