| 1228120 | 2011-09-02 02:05:00 | JQ will not provide a hotel as I found couple of months ago when they rerouted me via Brisbane to get to Chch which resulted in a 14 hour stay in Brisbane. Very rare for me to fly JQ as I usually fly QF. Failure to click the link in the email, they will just send you another email later asking you to confirm. I have no trouble with the Qantas service but then I travel with them back and forwards all over the place with them several times a week. They try very hard to look after there regular business / frequent flyers. With JQ, if I read it right, your mother doesn't get a hotel at Singapore ? Is the Singapore to HK with Jetstar Asia rather than Jetstar, there is I think about 3 flavours of JQ depending on the route and home base. She might have been offered a hotel if the tickets had been linked rather than 2 separate bookings. Too late now though. |

She is only going to stay in SG for a few hours on the way back, on the way there she may just walk around for the 10hrs or use the transit hotel . Looking at the itineary . AKL - SG is noted by "Operated by Jetstar for Jetstar Asia" SG - HK is not noted . We did compare to a linked ticket but that was more expensive . For any flights from AKL - SG you need to stay a night b/c you get to SG at 3pm approx but the next flight is 6am (or 2nd at 12pm or so . . ) . No hotel was included for the linked ticket either . . . . . . She made the changes now anyway . The change has reverted back to day (1) . |

The transit hotel at Singapore Airport is good, but it gets booked up months in advance, is not cheap, and I believe only has 4 hour booking sessions. 10 hours is way too long, even at a huge beautiful airport like Singapore's. You can find hotels near the airport via these sites (legit)... www.asiarooms.com/ --or-- http: --or-- try booking the hotel in the airport - if you cannot find their website I will give it to you. BTW, I flew the budget airlines AirAsia (www.airasia.com) a month ago to Malaysia and Bali. They only go to Christchurch but their prices are good. Not as flash as Singapore Airlines but still OK. I have already booked more AirAsia flights to Malaysia and Thailand. Jetstar's $250 AKL - HK is cheap! |

She can use it on the way there as she has no luggage, stay in transit and for the 10hr she can pop in, if prior booked . However, on the way back, she has luggage and b/c the tickets were separate, she has to clear SG immigration, get luggage but won'e be allowed back into transit until 25hr later when checkin opens  I don't think she wants to go outside at all, but the Crowne Plaza there on location is expensive . $250 is one way to SG, $500 return and I think SG - HK return was about $250 more . So about $800 . . with luggage surcharge, seat reservations etc . |

They linked her other flight now, 4hr in SG transit. I don't think she wants to go out by herself. Anyway. Prior. As mentioned, she exits SG immigration and will have luggage for 25hr until checkin counters open. She is alone and not strong in English. She's going to HK just to catch up with family, some of them are going over from Canada too... |

| 1228128 | 2011-09-03 11:40:00 | The Australian Jetstar bargain deal is quite simple -it applies only to passengers with no checked Baggage - Who does an international flight without baggage? - it's just a come on scam, there are very few international day trippers. |

Financially the fare was not bad - $250 each way to SG. Even if you add surcharges. Esp at November travelling. When I used them for JP. Not worth it eh .. It was $1200 return, much less of a special. I added meals - $50 or $60 return - 2 meals per leg. I don't have luggage, learnt to pack smartly. I like to see diff places quickly. The thing is if you add luggage, food, inflight entertainment, fire exit seats it will cost $1600. They got this thing. If you add luggage it is cheapest at time or purchase. B/c if you add it after but before checkin online, it cost more. If you leave it to the airport at time of checkin it becomes even more expensive. And oh, the food only includes the main leg, Gold Coast to Japan. The AKL to Gold Coast leg has no food even if you paid. And like always, they push this trolley down with a eftpos machine :D I was in Gold Coast transit, at the time it was under construction. V small. One cafe. Just the same price as the airline menu ;) Jetstar used to provide free refreshments if you bought food in advance as long as non alcoholic, but they silently changed that policy. While you do get the two meals if you paid, in between there is really nothing to chew on. Sure they may have a small bag of nuts for like $8 or that $5 2min noodles. |
