1227453 2011-09-01 07:18:00 Thanks SJ, I rest my case.

He is talking Hollwood, I think we should think twice b4 relying on that quarter.

1227454 2011-09-01 07:19:00 Not really, but leaving the software to continue to grow out of date is more risky I would think.

Ah, I see you are from 32 Bitville, so it may pay to be cautious.

1227455 2011-09-01 08:20:00 Oh ... while we are posting 'wish lists' I have a few suggestions ... in list form for Zara:

New/Read/Closed post icons on forum index pages are huge and distracting.
Reply to thread option defaults to quick reply style instead of advanced. Pretty sure vB3 just had the quick reply box available at the bottom and clicking "reply" automatically opened up the advanced editor. Now I have to click twice when replying to a thread. Might wear my mouse out.
I don't like some of the styles of the icons - specifically the wee soft yellow ones - they are too indistinct. This IS important . I really miss the original :confused::eek: ones. I mean the confused one is either someone with antlers or Princess Beatrice in that wedding hat.

I'm sure I had another suggestion, but I can't remember it right now. :p

1227456 2011-09-01 09:25:00 Not sure I am all that keen on the new look yet but I expect it will grow on me. Except for the forum's default emoticons which look a bit dimwitted.

One issue I am having is that clicking on the "Go to first new post" always goes to the first post, not the first new post when not logged on. As this is the first time I have logged on I have yet to discover whether it is a Guest-only feature. Could we have it fixed please? Browser is latest version of Opera.

It appears to be a Guest-only issue as it is working while I am logged on.

And no, I do not want to always be logged on to have a quick perve. ;)

1227458 2011-09-01 11:02:00 He is talking Hollwood, I think we should think twice b4 relying on that quarter. He's actually more correct than I was. I was being a bit too prehistoric talking about dinosaurs in that context. This from Wikipedia:

La Brea animals and plants

Active excavation site at La Brea Tar Pits, 2008

Among the prehistoric species associated with the La Brea Tar Pits are mammoths, dire wolves, short-faced bears, ground sloths, and the state fossil of California, the saber-toothed cat, Smilodon fatalis. Only one human has ever been found, a partial skeleton of a woman[13] dated to approximately 10,000 calendar years (~9,000 radiocarbon years) BP[14], who was 17 to 18 years old at death[15] and found associated with remains of a domestic dog, and so interpreted to have been ceremonially interred[16]. John C. Merriam of the University of California led much of the early work in identifying species in the early 20th century.

I think his in-depth study of the Pits and Saber Toothed Tigers is in #5 (Life in a Putty Knife Factory), where he speaks of the H'wood Hills, Pumpkins and eating of same by Saber Toothed cats through picket fences .

However, his writings blur into a homogenized mass of guffaws, chortles, side-splitters and gasping for air whilst reading his narratives . I read them all by the time I was 16 or so, and even though Suzuki Beane, H*Y*M*A*N * K*A*P*L*A*N (Leonard Ross) and Jack Kerouac are also on the same memory chip in this giant brain of mine, they all tend to coalesce into the same memories of expanding good times and learning to differentiate the hillbillies from sophisticate artisans of the writing trade .

1227460 2011-09-02 20:49:00 Is there a link to a new adblock thingy for ff ? Tried to search this thread but couldn't remember what it is called and adblock, block and a couple of others don't yield any results.

(The new ads layout is pretty annoying but understandable to help run somethinglike this)
