1227214 2011-09-22 09:58:00 Sorry guys, I'm going to be out of town for the weekend. I was looking forward to the meet up, but sorry, it wasn't to be.

Have a great time, and hopefully I'll get to meet all you guys next time. :)

1227215 2011-09-22 10:05:00 Was looking through the britomart page for parking info and noticed this page. www.auckland2011.com
Thought it might be a good idea to post it.

1227216 2011-09-22 12:31:00 Downtown anywhere is probably an excellent place to leave your car out of. Why not take advantage of Johcar's amazing free offer to chance your arm at parking roulette? Buses are just so easy to park - simply walk away and leave it lying on the side of the road. Get a fresh one when it's time to go home.

You could take the train from Whangaparoa I guess, could be a fairly long delay, but not a lot worse than the ones that didn't go to Kingsland ;) Nah - forget that, North Shore trains are no better than the Nelson trains.

1227217 2011-09-22 12:52:00 There is no train up here. What north shore trains? Yeah im thinking about leaving the car at Albany or Constellation drive.
Shame the akoranga drive bus station is not park and ride.
Hmm will probably make my mind up while driving.

Hmm free parking would be nice, think I will do this.

1227219 2011-09-22 20:53:00 Your chances of free parking around midday on a Saturday are only slightly better than the odds on catching a North Shore train ;) You may need a good Plan B, but good luck with that. R2x1 (4628)
1227220 2011-09-22 21:07:00 What North Shore Train? nedkelly (9059)
1227221 2011-09-22 22:23:00 There's no chance whatsoever of a North Shore train in the foreseeable future, free parking downtown at midday tomorrow is almost as likely to be available.
However, it's your choice, I may be unduly pessimistic. Given that the government is now involved, I automatically assume stuff will go wrong - people will avoid public transport after the opening fiasco, so they will all be in cars looking for somewhere to park.
True, the parking building operators are helpful, concerned citizens striving to ease your pain, and the Council's parking wardens are just there to assist you find a free space. Maybe there's an app for that too. Yeah, right ;)

Keith isn't always serious when replying. There are NO trains from Albany.

Only buses. Your two main options are the Northern Express and the 895. Both will generally cost more than $10 return normally.

In your case, the best bet is getting the "After 9am" day pass for $9 (www.maxx.co.nz) from the driver which will allow transport to and from Britomart on most Northern bus operators. (www.maxx.co.nz)

If you're not sure, go to maxx.co.nz (http://www.maxx.co.nz) Put "Albany Bus Station" as your initial starting point and "Britomart Transport Centre" as your destination.

Edit: Because Britomart will be closed, the alternate get on location TO albany is outside our usual eatery at Albert Street.
