1228110 2011-09-01 09:15:00 Maybe this is one of the cons going with cheaper airlines .

Mum is going overseas and like it happens, Jetstar provides this special of $250 each way from AKL to HKG . Fantastic .

That was maybe 2 months ago and we have received 4 changes to her itinerary, while they have been accommodating rescheduling all flights so she doesn't have to sleep on the floor, you have to wonder . Lucky we have not purchased domestic flights yet (within NZ) and she didn't need hotel bookings .

1228113 2011-09-01 20:57:00 JQ have been doing a lot of time table changes in last couple of months, tinker with one sector and it flows into the next one or affects crew rostering else where or what ever.

Though any airline, not just JQ can make operational changes, I have been hit with several changes on Qantas in the last month but they give me a hotel or move me onto a different airline keep me on my timeline. Other airlines I use have also made changes so it is not just restricted to the budget carriers.

Are they supplying seats or does she have to stand?? I wouldn't fly with this crowd after they wouldn't fly here a couple of months ago when there was a minor volcanic disturbance in South America . .

Worth a watch for a good giggle, if you have ever flown Ryan Airlines...

They don't call you . They just send you an email to click this button to confirm or it ask you to ring them . If after a while you don't do anything that button expires and they just assume you are ok with it . She has an email, but she's not IT literate so I do the checking etc .

JQ goes to HKG via SG, we bought 2 separate JQ flights . But they don't look at her other JQ flights . So the first time, she gets to SG a day later, misses her connecting flight . Then there some minor changes of an hour or two . The last change, on the return leg, when she gets to SG from HK, her flight to AKL is delayed by a day so instead of waiting 4hr as planned it's 4hr + 24hr . But we doubt this will be the last . These were in the last 2 months but still 2 month to go .

1228118 2011-09-01 23:23:00 Sort of airline roulette?
You don't pay full money, so you don't make too many more choices. Before the internet, this exercise would let you start a stamp collection. You have to just hope her flight has indoor plumbing.

1228119 2011-09-02 00:47:00 The first change reduced her holiday by a day, she could accept that . Then the last change, made made it back to the original (assuming that's what happened) . I think there are daily SG-HK flights .

The aircraft and flying is about the same me thinks . But customer service and planning IME are better with the larger airlines .
As with the hotel thing, I doubt JQ will accomodate . Larger airlines may however .
