I'm offering up $50 for the first person who can prove that they've been the cause of a copyright infringement notification being sent to the council on the new Wellington Hotspots :devil

1227939 2011-09-01 04:44:00 If they have any sense they block the most obvious offenders such as p2p / torrents etc.

And of course you wouldn't be promoting any illegal behaviour now would you?

It'll probably cost you more than $50 to get to Wellington :p

Ah well, it'll pay for a one way Overlander fare :D

1227944 2011-09-01 12:05:00 That's OK, you can throttle the heck outta your torrent so you're just "connected" but not actually downloading anything. Works just the same ;) Chilling_Silence (9)
1227945 2011-09-01 12:47:00 Apparently the Wifi in Wellington is not affected by the new laws anyway according to the Mayor. The Wifi is for transients according to CityLink. Snorkbox (15764)
1227946 2011-09-02 10:05:00 "Transients" - that's a laugh.

It either means a homelss alcoholic, who's long since traded any laptop in his posession for cheap wine, or a tourist, who will be of an age and of a nature to bleed any uncapped wifi for all the torrenting he can manage... along with every other person from 12-35 years old who may pass through the city.

Anyway, I think Chill is onto a really good stir. I'll add another $50 to the pot to support the cause - same rules as in post #1.

First person who can do the same with the Parliament internet gets $50 as well. And a bloody medal for public service in the face of buroucratic stupidity.
