1253327	2012-01-10 04:24:00	Hi guys, So I finally got off my ass and did something about it, got permission from James and have now installed the Stop Forum Spam plugin! This references known spammer IP's, email addresses and usernames with a 3rd party database to obliterate spammers before they even get the chance to post, as well as checking their post contents for the first 10 posts (After which they're deemed "safe" to post whatever. I know it's probably not much of an issue because you're all happily registered, but if you do notice, hopefully the spam levels here will decrease significantly as a result of it. I've tested the registration and that still works fine so now I'll test the auto-anti-spam and hopefully that'll work as well. As always, if you do notice spam, feel free to "Report" it. I'm personally of the opinion that posting "Reported" afterwards to let others know you've done-so is a good idea because I don't like getting a dozen emails over a single piece of spam on the forums, it seems counter-productive ;) Cheers Chill. It's auto-moderated my first post (You can't see it but it's in between this one and the first post) based on the word "porn", it also checks these words: drugs meds viagra porn Awesome :D EDIT: Damn I've probably just blocked my home IP Address for the next 30-90 days from signing up to anything that uses the SFS service. That wasn't clever of me :( EDIT2: No wait it's OK, we're not "Reporting back" to the SFS service, it's a one way thing :D I'm safe, nobody panic!	Chilling_Silence (9)

Coz I could put iphone, ipod & ipad in the banned words list for the first 10 posts. That'll teach them for not buying an Android if they come here for legitimate help! ;) Yeah I understand it probably *does* email them and notify them the forum is active, but we've got like a million plus posts with some 800 -> 1000 people on here at any given time. 1253336	2012-01-11 02:08:00	pretty sure you'll find most of those "convert this video format" spammers will be blocked by their username or IP, same as other spammers Certainly, the ones I checked here the last few months had their username already on the stopforumspam list - and the IP's probably were too, but I can't see their IP's here obviously. Anyway, glad you finally got around to installing the plugin Chill - was only May 2010 I suggested it so pretty quick really! (heh, sorry - just being my usual sarcastic self :) )	bevy121 (117)
