1253245 2012-03-10 23:14:00 also i was wondering where i can get drivers for my mobo... i cant find em anywhere on asus's site and the disk doesn't seem to work. Slankydudl (16687)
1253246 2012-03-11 00:13:00 I think you ended up with the P8Z68-V?

You can find drivers here: www.asus.com

Does the motherboard driver CD work in a different computer?

1253247 2012-03-11 02:17:00 how do i install those drivers? Slankydudl (16687)
1253248 2012-03-11 02:59:00 okay thanks i got bios but found nothing on the gpu. i tried taking it out and booting then putting it back in again to no avail so i am quite sure its bust. in bios my ram is set to 1600mhz but it isnt going over 800mhz according to cpuz. and also sort of strangely cpu z says iv got intel 2000 graphics, but should it be 3000?

The RAM issue is because you're using DDR. This caught me up the first time I built a machine with DDR RAM.
DDR = double data rate and the data transfer *effective* rate is twice the real clock speed.

So DDR 1600 at a clock speed of 800Mhz is, in fact, running correctly.

The GPU issue sounds like your onboard graphics is not disabled. There may or may not be a way to disable it in BIOS directly, or you may just have an option to change the priority of graphics devices.

1253249 2012-03-11 03:21:00 thanks man :P iv been useing macs most of my life and this is quite a learning experience. so is there any more info you can give about the gpu? because it would be good if i can get it to work. onboard graphics are expectedly crappy. and it would be nice if i could convert my $800 paperweight into and actual peice of hardware. 1253251 2012-03-11 03:56:00 Firstly I think we need to confirm which motherboard you have, there seems to be some uncertainty over this. Regardless of what the box says, all Asus boards have the model number printed on the PCB itself somewhere in a large white font. Find this and post here what it says. Agent_24 (57)

If you're still trying to figure out how to disable to onboard graphics. (www.tomshardware.com) Assuming Jen is right with what motherboard you got.

In the BIOS,go to Advanced>System agent configuration and change the "Initiate graphic adapter" to "PCI-E/PCI" (Setting it to iGPU will use the onboard GPU)

1253253 2012-03-11 04:58:00 yeah i figured out how to disable it but as far as the pc is concerned there is no gpu connected to it.i was unable to find the model number but i do know for a fact that it is this mobo... i dont know why everyone is confused.
