1253235 2012-03-10 07:58:00 MSE if you want free, NOD32 if you don't mind paying.
And a selsection of anti-malware is a good Idea, MBAM & Spybot is a good start, super anti-spyware is another. If you do use spybot don't use the tea timer or resident protection, just use it as a scanner.
You could theoretically leave these if you are sensible about your internet and E-mail use, but best to have at least one.

1253236 2012-03-10 16:39:00 Well its sorta working. Iv got signal through a dvi cable useing onboard graphics. But my gpu apparently isnt even there according to cpu z. Any thoughts? Slankydudl (16687)
1253237 2012-03-10 18:43:00 okay well i think my gpu is faulty so ill work with that but atm everything seems to be super underclocked. my cpu is at 1.6ghz and my ram is at 800mhz rather than 1600 Slankydudl (16687)
1253238 2012-03-10 19:35:00 The CPU will throttle itself to low speed when not loaded so it may not be wrong, the RAM will probably default to a lower speed than it's max in the BIOS, see if there is an extreme memory profile type setting which will usually automatically pick the best stock settings for your RAM. Did you have the Graphics card seated properly and connected to the power with an extra cable or two? it won't work without the power connected to it.The green lines sounded bad though.

To test your CPU when you're ready, download prime95, CPU-Z, and something to monitor temperature like realtemp or speedfan. Launch whichever one you choose and park it to the side, then launch CPU-Z, then task manage(optional), then launch prime95 and start a test. Position the windows so you can see everything or just minimise prime95. You should see all the CPU cores max out on the performance tab of task manager, CPU-Z should report the clock speed at 3.4 or thereabouts, and realtemp should tell you how hot it's getting. This is a good burn in test for the CPU and a way to see if everything is working right while it's still new and under warranty. If the temps go over 80 get worried, if they hit 90 shut the test down. With a stock cooler expect it to hit high 60's or into the 70's under 100% load, and remember it'll never usually work this hard.

1253239 2012-03-10 19:53:00 Yeah i git the 212 evo. So thanks ill do that. And yeah the gpu is seated and hooked up to power properly. The fans spin but according to cpu z i only have on board graphics. Slankydudl (16687)
1253240 2012-03-10 22:02:00 One thing to try before returning the graphics card;
power down
remove graphics card
boot up with onboard only
power down completely, switch off at wall
reinstall graphics card making sure again everything is connected as it should be
Boot back up

Sometimes this can force the card to be detected again, also go into the bios and see if there is an option for primary graphics or similar that you can select.

1253241 2012-03-10 22:32:00 okay so i did that and the cpu did in fact go to about 4.3ghz according to cpuz and at about 55c. so now i want to fix the ram.... this sounds stupid but im actually having trouble getting into bios. there is no screen which tells me what button to press. before i could because i would get a cpu fan error but that is resolved. so what key do i press for bios? It should be in the manual that came with your motherboard.

1253244 2012-03-10 22:51:00 okay thanks i got bios but found nothing on the gpu. i tried taking it out and booting then putting it back in again to no avail so i am quite sure its bust. in bios my ram is set to 1600mhz but it isnt going over 800mhz according to cpuz. and also sort of strangely cpu z says iv got intel 2000 graphics, but should it be 3000?
