One easy way to test that is plug in a USB device thats not detected Via the hub directly, assuming it is the hub, the USB device plugged in directly will show. When you plug in the hub on its own, you should hear the "Plink-plonk" of it being detected. But the ports wont actually show in Computer ( windows7) until you have plugged in a USB device ( even if you have unticked hide empty drives under the tools/ Folder Options) as shown here (www.sevenforums.com) |

Just to go back a bit, when I installed unit, I put in a USB drive to accept a film from my computer, I right clicked on film and clicked on send to,it then came up to send to external drive k , proceeded to send 1 gig in 22 secs, I thought wonderful, in fact I have just put said drive in a proper USB slot, only to find there is noting in the USB drive., so though I saw it being transferred it was in fact doing nothing, surely it has to be faulty, with luck new unit will be here tomorrow. |

| 1253964 | 2012-01-15 00:37:00 | I got one of these www.pbtech.co.nz and plugged it into the USB 3.0 header on my motherboard, worked perfectly. You could also plug it into a USB card if you can find one with an internal header. All the ones I've seen only have rear ports. |
