Put simply, they've run out of innovation. They're banking on their current success to keep going, and are stifling any competition and innovation that could perhaps beat their products with lawsuits left right and centre, probably until their next big idea comes along.

Just watch the lawsuits stop as soon as the iNextBigThing comes out, and start again as soon as the other manufacturers figure out how to do it better.
