1228867 2011-09-05 05:21:00 Thats nice of them.

We finally got a eamil from them for our Sept contents claim, 10 months after filing the claim and all docs and pictures to tell us that they cannot process our claim as they need pictures and documents for each item.....which were all supplied at time of claim plus they are listing a whole lot of extra items that they want info on that we have no idea about. Getting someone else's claim mixed up with ours it seems.
Refiled all the pictures and doc's again and this time gave them a 7 day time limit to reply wanting additional info otherwise we would deem the claim to be ok and any future requests for info would be declined. Of course they haven't replied within the 7 days............probably in about 7 months time they will ask us again about additional info for items we haven't claimed on.

Now that the govt is having to bail out ECQ, they will probably get tight fisted with the pay outs. Only this morning a ECQ rep who is on contract from Melbourne and a builder came by unannounced and proceeded to do a house inspection, has taken them only 12 months to get here. Cracked concrete slab base is not EQ related and the damage to the walls, just normal wear and tear, not EQ related. 30 minutes later and nothing to fix they claim. We intend to get a 3rd party in to do a top to bottom inspection but the guy from ECQ said that doing so will not change anything as our house was not EQ damaged.

And ECQ pay these clowns $100 hour plus other expenses to tell us this...........bunch of over paid under worked morons.

So was it important? Being in Chch and was inspected for the first time just last Thursday, we were left without knowing what they wrote or what they are claiming as EQ damage. All they said was "thanks very much, you'll get a letter in the post", dont know if to put another claim in for the tele etc or what to do. It would be interesting to know how others are getting on.
Thanks.

1228869 2011-09-05 08:18:00 They refused point blank to show me what they had written in there report as well. No reason was given other than I would receive a letter from ECQ with in 30 days. Yeah right. Probably more like months rather than days if there past performance is anything to go by.

Contents such as the TV is separate. If it was broken in the EQ, put in a claim.

1228870 2011-09-05 08:25:00 So why was the image deleted?
I saw it before it was removed so would like to why.

1228871 2011-09-05 09:46:00 I'm guessing because he forgot to censor his email address? ubergeek85 (131)
1228872 2011-09-05 10:09:00 Yes I foolishly forgot to edit my personal details.
The email said "Your email was deleted without being read". Needless to say I was surprised.

1228873 2011-09-05 10:10:00 I rang EQC last week and they informed me that they had the schedule of contents but no images or quotes. Useless twats didn't even tell me that they didn't until I asked. So now that I have resent them I will ring back and see what happens. They do answer the phone quickly though so I'll give them that hueybot3000 (3646)
1228874 2011-09-05 10:51:00 One of the Great Lies:

I am from the Government, I am here to help.

Goes well with and is on par with:
Of course I will respect you in the morning,
your cheque is in the mail,
etc etc

You are very right in that ECQ tell you nothing unless you ask for it. One of there recent feel good emails said something like 70,000 or 700,000 content claims were unprocessed owing to lack of information but they didn't go further and actually say, this is exactly what we need. I know quite a few people that have content claims in, some are now living in Australia or else where, there has been zero communications from ECQ to say, we have your claim here but we now need you to provide this this and that to progress it further.

At least some of the help line operators are helpful though they sometimes contradict each other. Pity them as they are the face of ECQ and they cop a feel amount of abuse from some people for the poor performance of those further up the chain and all there over paid consultants.
