I have tried to transfer data from my laptop which is a think pad 310 to my desktop 133 pentium using the direct cable connection, via a parallel cable fitted to the LPT1 ports on each computer. After verifying user name etc a message appears LPT1 port disconnected. I have followed the instructions which were given out by microsoft in their latest edition of Tips and tecniques sent out each quarter. unfortunately i cannot make it work, do you have any suggestions as to what maybe the problem. if not do you know of a reasonably priced program that i can purchase to enable the down load of data from one computer to another.
