Sorry for my previous posting, James. I assumed you had Win95. Anyway, say that your modem manual specifies COM port 4, IRQ XXX and I/O base YYY. Go into the Control Panel, Ports. Click on COM 4 then Settings. With the latest modems change the speed to 115200. Set flow control from Xon/Xoff to Hardware. Click on Advanced, and enter XXX and YYY in their correct boxes. Hopefully these settings do not conflict with your mouse or soundcard. Exit with OKs and reboot. Start Windows again, launch your communications program and set it up specifying COM 4. I hope that works. |
