833 1998-11-19 12:54:00 I am trying to network my computers at home. I am using D-link de-220 cards, thin coax cable, win 95. The cards seem to be set up correctly with no conflicts.I can see the computer I am on in network neighbourhood but not the other computer. This is the same on both computers.I have terminated the cable at both computers.I have set up client for MS network and netBEUI. Any suggestions?
Thanks
Paul

It is interesting reading this post and many others on the site. I am new here and it would be good to hear some other views from other members.

835 2008-03-21 14:19:00 Uhhh, you promoting your little travel page there in your sig?

Forum rules (pressf1.co.nz) - take a good look at number 8.

And this thread you performed CPR on and is now on life support, is coming up 10 years old - if you actually want to know about home networking, look here (tinyurl.com).

Try changing the protocol to TCPIP not NetBEUI

I really do love this place, even though I'm new, I use to chat here using a different user name and had to leave for awhile, but it's good to see that things are just as interesting as they were back then.

Sorry I digress, and didn't mean to derail the conversation, I just had an overwhelming urge to raise my hand and say this.

It will be nice to get to know everyone again.

Thank you everyone,

840 2008-04-09 21:49:00 ***!!! Why wasn't this thread locked?

Idiot.

BAN.

Lol, in regard to the original question, TCP/IP would work much better.

842 2008-04-09 21:54:00 my first thought was "who still uses coax cabel for networking?"
then i checked the date........

this is a good example of why we should have autolocking after a year or two....
