801 1998-11-15 06:43:00 Since installing Windows 98 I have not been able to get the Disk Defragmenter to run beyond 3% completion. I have reinstalled Windows 98. I have disabled Norton Antivirus 5.0 and uninstalled CyberMedia First Aid 98 in case they were writing to the hard disk. I have tried the suggested Windows Technical Support solution of running DEFRAG before applications load at startup by adding a value for DEFRAG.EXE/ALL to the RunServicesOnce key in the registry, to avoid other applications writing to the disk. I am running Windows 98 on a Pentium-166 with 32MB of RAM and a 1.7GB hard drive with over 700MB free. Guest (0)
