1254402 2012-01-16 01:12:00 I am in the process of upgrading a PC from Vista to Windows 7 Home Premium. The problem is however, how do I transfer all of the emails and pictures from Vista to Win7, can the internet settings also be transferred?

And because Windows 7 doesn't have Windows Mail installed, what can I use in place of that?

1254403 2012-01-16 01:24:00 Use the easy file transfer wizard.

For mail use windows live mail. Or Outlook, Thunderbird etc.

1254404 2012-01-16 02:34:00 Back it up on an external drive, then copy over to the new O/s after. Far better method because for one thing you are also backing up as well. Imagine if the hard drive dies - then what happens to your stuff. Always have copies on at least two separate drives that are not plugged in to the same PC or into any power at all at the same time. pctek (84)

1254406 2012-01-16 03:09:00 Have you read my link? It says the Internet settings can be transferred as well. Snorkbox (15764)

1254410 2012-01-16 03:23:00 It isn't. It's part of MS Office in some versions. Snorkbox (15764)
1254411 2012-01-16 03:26:00 So if I'm not installing Office, do I use Thunderbird? QW. (15883)
