| 1229369 | 2011-09-07 09:03:00 | We moved house after the feb earthquake (due to damage) and once at the new place signed up for slingshots internet only plan. They said it would take 2 weeks to setup, seemed like a while but fine. 2 weeks goes by and nothing happened so called them back and someone had "forgot" to put the request through. It would take another 2 weeks. Slightly frustrated now. We get internet! Yay! Except it was slow as hell and inconsistant to the point that dial-up looked pretty damn sweet. Multiple calls to slingshot and a few blatant lies about how our speed was the max the line could take bla bla bla. I know it wasn't true because I had lived at this house previously and we had a solid 7-8mb download connection. With slingshot we averaged about 700k down and virtually 0 up according to speedtest. So after lots of arguing they said they would send a technician at our expense, but he was unlikely to find anything because the line "was fine". So in the end we cancelled our service, were told on the phone there would be no disconnection fee and paid the account in full by credit card. This was over early march until may the 12th. After that we joined Telstra, were connected the next day at lunchtime and havent had a problem since. A week ago I received a letter from ****** debt collection services stating we owed Callplus Services Limited - Slingshot $50 + $12.12 for the collectors. I rang slingshot and talked to a helpful girl who said she would look into it, half an hour on hold and all of a sudden a technical support person answers and asks how he may help. Rather ****ed off I ask to go back to customer service (or whatever you would call slingshots sheep). Soon later I'm explaining the situation to a different guy who proceeds to hang up on me mid call. May have been the line dropping but I safely assume they screwed up :-) Anyway ring back and someone else answers, and he shouldn't be working there, he was polite, listened, checked everything written in notes against what I had said and sympathised. I was actually wondering if I had called the wrong company! He said that he saw no reason for the charges to not be paid so I should pay them and that's that. I asked if I could take it further and without hesitation he consulted his manager and said they would call back with their verdict after reviewing the account and phone calls, and in the meantime don't worry about the debt collectors letter. Great we're making progress. Today I received another letter from the collectors, saying they had "made a number of attempts" to contact me regarding the payment. I never got a phone call and I only have one phone...so rang slingshot again, explained that I had not made any payments etc because I was waiting for the phone call. The guy said that the case had been reviewed and I had to pay so I should contact the collectors. And "sorry about that" in regards to the call I never got. So now I have to pay $62.12 to the collectors for as far as I can tell nothing? I don't know if I can do much else really. Slingshot have closed it as far as they're concerned and I'm not sure what I could say to the collectors in my defense. Id imagine they would stamp down and force payment. At the very least I hope this turns a few ppl off slingshot. My research into the speed problem we originally had is they basically have just oversold their allocated bandwidth on the exchange. Cheers |

| 1229372 | 2011-09-07 09:12:00 | Slingshot is a very lazy ISP. Had a problem the other week where a tech called an ISP saying the line is still with slingshot and that XXXX cant dial out. It seems that the ISP sent a notification to slingshot to accept the port request so the number can be transfered over to another ISP. 25th august the notification was sent out. 6th of september was the day the tech called up and explained the situation to me and a friend. I find slingshot staff are rather inpolite. There are other examples I know of and they all relate to slingshot. I don't understand why slingshot still exist as an ISP |

| 1229375 | 2011-09-07 09:26:00 | At the time they were the only ones offering no phone-line plans. We are now with telstra on their no phone plan and its been great. But I'm glad I'm not alone in my dislike of slingshot | hueybot3000 (3646) | ||
