Yeah pretty much.

Still, what would people rather?

I know, how about an image of jandals, short shorts, fish n chips, and ooooh how about a garden of poppies! Then we can have goodiesguy along with the likes of Chris Barton coming along with their hedge clippers and cutting them all down.

Dont think so ;)

1230016 2011-09-12 07:25:00 Hate to say it but I'm pretty disgusted by your attitude too, especially for such a young man. You've got a lot to learn about life and that kind of supremist attitude won't get you very far at all!

So you think it's ok for the maori's one again, to get to show of themselves and their own culture, and make the rest of the world think we are barbarian savages, and have the 90% of us Kiwi/white/european etc.. population not represented in any decent form?

It's better than being depicted as half naked people, sticking our tounges out, and with tattoo's all over us, while screaming out random gibberish.

1230017 2011-09-12 07:42:00 Considering New Zealand is no longer really bi-cultural, but multi-cultural, I'd like to see your improvements on it.

Lets look at the likes of Beijing and their 2008 Olympic Games opening. Do all Asians walk around wearing the kind of get-up they portrayed? Doubt it. Perhaps they could have shown the great "firewall" of china that blocks so much of their internet and filters everything? That's a modern-day representation of them, should they display that?

Get off your high-horse.

I'm all for portraying what the average "white guy" goes through, but a lot like the american culture, there's not a lot like that which would be portrayed in a show like that!

Fair deal.

I'm not on a high horse. It is only my opinion and i feel very strongly about it, that is all.

1230019 2011-09-12 08:04:00 I hope you realize that the opening thing was just a major tourist attraction, and tourists care about our so called "culture". icow (15313)

I know that, but i don't like the thought of tourists thinking New zealand is like that, and that it is our culture.

im my opinion, the maori culture is NOT our culture.

Every opening at an event relies heaverly on the culture of the country, but make no mistake that I presumed all aussies were abbo's with boomerangs while watching the sydney Olympics

1230022 2011-09-12 08:16:00 Ok people, how about someone takes issue with my posts instead?

Goodies guy isn't very intelligent or mature and lacks insight on any level. His opinions are at best childish.why bother?

I have put forward what I thought was a pretty large scope for NZ cultural celebration that could encompass all the multicultural people of NZ with out divisions in order to glorify one culture and condemn another.

Rip me apart.

Well considering you don't know me, or know anything about me, that is a pretty low comment. Many could say the same things about some of your posts. Let's also remember i'm not the one one holding the record for being banned the most.

Metla, why take issue with some of your posts? I personally think your opinions are essentially well thought out, although at times perhaps a little abrasive. You say things that others shy away from.

Keep it up.

That last comment is not childish but rather, childlike. "You are. I'm not. You are." etc. Keep to the essence of the fight.
