About 5 or 6 years ago I joined Slingshot (only there for about a month) and at the same time I moved my phone from Telecom to Slingshot. I had call waiting with Telecom and decided to cancel that and have caller display. Went back to Actric as Slingshot were useless but kept my phone with them. Anyway to cut a long story short Slingshot forgot to cancel my call waiting and after having caller display and call waiting for 6 years (I wasn't being billed for the call waiting), I finally got a letter from Slingshot saying they had forgotten to charge me for call waiting and said they wouldn't be billing me for the 6 years I had been useing it. :) |

IF Slingshit keep stalling book a hearing with Disputes - that will make them move real fast. Some businesses will refer unpaid bills to a debt collection agency with the expectation that the customer will be intimidated and will pay up without questioning the account further. Problem solved for the business. As PC Tech said, if you wish to dispute the account, tell the collection agency that the account is in dispute. It is a good idea to write to the business that the account is in dispute with. This way you have something in writing to show the collection agency. Keeping a log of all telephone conversations is also a good idea. You may also need this as evidence if you decide to take matters to the Disputes Tribunal. |

Seen it quite a few times with their customers. | wratterus (105) | ||
| 1229403 | 2011-09-08 07:15:00 | I dispute a debt. What our my rights? If you dispute part, or all, of the debt you should consider the following action: - Don't ignore the notice: Ignoring the notice will not make it go away. If an agency is unable to collect directly from you they may take action in the District Court to recover the money owed. - Advise the agency and the creditor that the debt is disputed and why. - Advising the agency that there is a real and unresolved dispute over the debt may mean that the agency will stop any action to collect the debt until the matter is settled. - Consider action in the Disputes Tribunal to resolve the dispute. If a dispute cannot be resolved, you can take a claim to the Disputes Tribunal to seek an order that you are not liable to pay the debt in full or in part. I would dispute for two reasons: A) Based on the definition of a service (you cancelled before the technician came to fix your line, therefore he never came out, and therefore you never received any service so they cant charge you what they didn't provide. B) Based on the claim by Slingshot there was no fault, and that's why you had to pay for the technician. Correct me if I'm wrong but had the technician found a fault you wouldn't have been charged? (usually how it works). Then by changing ISP's and getting dramatically improved DSL stats, proves there was definitely a problem somewhere therefore they had a fault so you shouldn't have been charged. Friends don't let friends use slingshot. |
