1254467 2012-01-18 01:22:00 Just had the exact same thing happen.

I tried to put SP1 in via the DVD, but it failed - The fix was simply to let the updates install Via windows update, then they went in straight away, there were 55 updates first, then it showed SP1 and one other file as a download, thats when the DVD was used ( after the 55 updates were installed).

I posted in #15 some questions , which has not been answered, so no idea as to how you are actually trying to install it.

Have you tried another installation?

1254468 2012-01-18 01:37:00 Have you tried another installation? Not to sure why you are asking that ???

Why would I want to try another installation when its working perfectly OK now ?

The install I mentioned was from a image that has not been loaded for several months, and it did not have SP1 on it.

I was trying to replicate the problem ollieogg was having and did.

Normally I would use W7 WSP1 DVD's / Images.

1254470 2012-01-18 08:55:00 Navigate to c:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log Locate the update log , look to see what the missing assembly is (which is what that error code indicates)

Either that or post the log here if it no to long :)

Ok I do not have any logs called Checksur.log all I have are 6 folders called CBS,
dism,DPX, HomeGroup, System Restore and WindowsBackup. I xtracted one of the files in CBS, and there is just screeds of goobledegook. It is also very, very long . I couldn't find anything about assemblys missing. Should I be looking somewhere else peerhaps?

1254472 2012-01-18 09:15:00 I have tried SP1 via auto updates and I also downloaded it, either way it didn't work. I am on wireless so the internet is always "on" ollieogg (6593)
1254473 2012-01-18 09:22:00 I am guessing you do that at the dos prompt running as administrator? I tried that and I got this error - chkdisk is not recognised as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file ollieogg (6593)
1254474 2012-01-18 09:26:00 Thank you to everyone who has offered advice on this aggravating problem. I got that frustrated with it last night that I turned it off and biffed it on the sofa in disgust ! and went to bed and read. I think I have tried everything that has been suggested so far, and answered all questions too? ollieogg (6593)
1254475 2012-01-18 20:07:00 Wow, this is really frustrating for you. We feel your pain.

The spelling of chkdsk is wrong (no 'i') hence the not recognized error.

1254476 2012-01-18 20:31:00 If all else fails get hold of a W7 with SP1 DVD and reinstall it from that, at least there wont be any problem with the service pack then. wainuitech (129)
