1229955 2011-09-09 21:22:00 And wot about the trains and traffic...... people being delayed?

Most of the issues on the trains were caused by idiots - no, morons pressing the emergency stop buttons when there was no emergency. On some trains it was so bad that as soon as the train moved off, the button would be pressed again.

The breakdown at Remuera didn't help...

1229957 2011-09-09 21:26:00 did they have security on the trains? or people were expected to be normal and cope? and be good? it was the world cup for good ness sake...........the excitement had been building for months. surely they didnt expect it to be perfect all the way thro?
I have no idea, didnt go, not intending to go any where, cost is too high, and the want isnt high enough to warrant the cost no matter how special it is.......

life goes on with or without a world cup :D
but i would like to see NZ do really well. :)

I was on the trains earlier that morning, and there was extra signage around the emergency buttons, but there really should have been security there.

The mayor has demanded a review of what happened.

1229959 2011-09-09 22:05:00 90% of the so called spectacle was Maori/Islander based.

I guess the 90% of the white population that I am part of can go to hell.

I embarrassed to be a Kiwi :(

I so totally agree, dont we Whites count for anything?

Instead of the buttons stopping the trains. The button should alert the driver of an emergency who can then talk to the passengers to find out if there is a real emergency or not. This is what happens on the London underground.

1229961 2011-09-09 22:28:00 Well if people like you had any culture they might show it. But I'm afraid to say, you don't

Seriously?

Much of maori culture has been manipulated and manufactured for entertainment value, The real cultural footprint is a savage stone age people with almost no language, a penchant for war, a hunger for human flesh, and wearing plants for clothes.

In recent times we have shared a culture, and before that our culture spreads to all corners of the earth and reaches back through the ages, through every development of mankind.

The maori never got out of their first age until the colonists arrived and lifted them out of the muck.

If you are under the delusion that maori have some mystical and deep culture and whitey are just a blank slate then you are a victim of marketing and public manipulation. thats just where the money goes, and where it can be earned.

Hence the difference between whats getting marketed around Rotorua and the reality of small settlements around the country.

1229963 2011-09-09 23:16:00 I had to walk out of the room. I could not stand the maori shoving their culture in our faces once again. It was all about the maori's once again. I don't think there was anything in that opening about us 90% whites. I'm not racist, but i am god damn sick of those maori's trying to shove their culture in our faces.

Most people watching the world cup in other countries are gonna think we are all weirdos half naked with tattoo's on our faces while yelling out random gibberish. That rugby opening made me embarrassed to be a kiwi.

+1

Dick.

Nothing is going to change then, is it? There will still be idiots doing that. It has happened before with trains to sporting events and it doesnt stop it happening again. I got caught up in all that ... took me 1:30hr from Downtown to Eden Park, then 30 mins back after the game ..... then 3hrs from Downtown to Panmure Station. Home at 1:30am. Luckily I dont have tickets for anymore games but if I did then I will be driving. Apparently the roads were generally clear after the population took heed to use public transport .... and it crashed big time. Never again.
