1229869 2011-09-09 12:07:00 Another painkiller called Mersyndol is also available from the Chemist without prescription and that is potent enough to relieve the pain of a massive hangover while you are at the same time playing with a pneumatic drill inside a shipping container with the door shut. It has less than 2mg more codeine and 50mg less paracetamol per tablet, but it has an antihistamine as well and that seems to work miracles.

Strictly speaking, Mersyndol is indicated only for migraine. Most pharmacists will not approve the sale unless a clear history of migraine is present. The idea of incorporating a sedative antihistamine (Doxylamine) into Mersyndol is to enable migraine sufferers to have a good night sleep and recovery after taking them.

Key thing is to know what to expect from the medication, don't overdose on it (though I've had to take two lots of codeine an hour or so apart when God was too slow coming to get me) and keep your doctor informed.

Codeine comes in three different strengths. Sometimes it pays to keep an eye out on what strength you are taking. Conservative maximum of codeine in 24 hour period is 240mg/24 hour.

Best thing about it is you don't really need the powerful brands, codeine is codeine, so just increase the dosage a little but make sure you drink plenty of water, dehydration makes headaches worse. Three ordinary strength panadeine have approximately the equivalent effect of two Mersyndol.

Another thing with the use of codeine is its side effects, mainly constipation and drowsiness. The former side effect makes it even more important to maintain fluid intake. Be careful not to operate machineries or drive after taking codeine if you are prone to developing drowsiness subsequent to taking each dose.

I get very bad headaches as a consequence of head injuries from a car accident, but usually only if I am dehydrated, and then they are bad enough to make me want to tell God all about them.
What sort of headaches are you prone to getting, Billy? If it is migrainous headache (nausea and vomiting, sensitivity to light, intense headache starting from one side of the head then moving slowly to the other side), then you may benefit from other medications such as sumatriptan or rizatriptan. Feel free to ask your doctor about it.

Cheers :)

1229870 2011-09-09 12:10:00 The morons called politicians. Populous politics. They think by banning this stuff all meth labs will vanish.
I heard on this morning's radio (Classic Hits) that a study published by a University in New Zealand (Canterbury / Victoria - not sure) has found that the use of methamphetamine has decreased from 60+% to 20+% (can't quite remember the exact figure), though it doesn't say what are the main factors that contribute to the phenomenon. Can't seem to find the study on Google.

Cheers :)

1229871 2011-09-09 12:13:00 Buy some 1000mg vitamin C tablets from the chemist should do the trick.
:)
Vitamin C is mostly effective if it is taken at a high strength prior to the cold setting in. During the prodomal stage (i.e. when you feel that a cold is just about to set in), taking either Pepticol or Viralex can help with reducing the severity of the symptoms substantially.

One more step that can be taken is to take Buccaline once every three months. That way, it will help to minimise the bacterial complications of an existing cold.

Cheers :)

1229872 2011-09-09 14:25:00 The production of methamphethamine using pseudoephedrine as a precursor was at its all time high a few years ago. The move to restrict the availability of pseudoephedrine to the public probably has resulted in more general benefits than inconvenience.

Thats a big probably, i would love to see some before and after stats. Anyone who is making P in any quantity would be importing contact NT from the likes of China.

1229873 2011-09-09 20:41:00 The pharmacy that you husband first went to had a very good reason why they wouldn't put through the script - that if they get audited, dispensing pseudoephedrine off a normal script can get them into a lot of trouble. The second pharmacy probably took the chance that the doctor would re-write the prescription on an H572 form and post it to the pharmacy at a later date.

On a sidenote, I am guessing the reason why you have been prescribed pseudoephedrine is for congested nose?
The first chemist took money and then told him he couldn't have them. They said they couldn't get hold of the dr about the form, yet I did straiht away.

The second chemist had their act together and got the right form.

I got it because I asked for it. I've tried various things over the years. Nothing cures your cold but Pseudoephidrine clears the nose for most of the day. Which is the point.
