1229453 2011-09-08 10:14:00 It seems clear that someone who is head of the Maori Studies dept doesnt even know what "racist" means...

This woman is really warped, I hope that is not what she is teaching to students.

I’m afraid to say Ian that is exactly what she’s teaching and you and I are helping pay her wages to do so. :devil

1229454 2011-09-08 10:16:00 I wonder if she really referring to a class or institutional perspective - as many of the races she mentions easily slip into main stream middle and predominantly white NZ, sometimes in influential jobs, often starting from middle management sector. I have experienced this over the years in corporate office roles. TV NZ senior roles was like this several years back, filled with UK management. She fails to mention visibly noticeable races, - the ones most NZ's would recognize, that are generally assigned or consigned to labour roles, lower level tasks, unemployment, or language learning centers. kahawai chaser (3545)

No chance. You cant be a racist because you are not in a position of power (her words).

Yeh, I know many Part Maoris and never stop laughing when I see them. I also look after IT for a Maori Trust and have some great fun when I go there - I'm the chip in the packet of spicy wedges  right down to having toaster races - putting white bread in one and brown bread in the other and bet on which pops up first and which one pops up the highest (White toast cant jump). lol, crazy fun and no one gets offended.

I had to print a colour picture for some advertising they were doing and the printer wasnt colour matched and it all come out really pale. I told them all they looked like honkys, we were all still in tears laughing over it about 15 minutes later.

I would think we all have some great stories involving Maori friends and I think the overall majority are like that. Its just sad that a few with the largest mouths and misguided ideas are ruining it for all of New Zealand really.

Enuf said.
