2012-01-19 06:57:00 | you can still OC the locked ones too AFAIK, just more difficult. Also if it's for gaming, downgrade the CPU, upchuck the GPU. Screw the sound card, IMO. If you want it later, get it later. Generally PC speakers aren't that fabulous anyway unless you go really pricey with them. also try getting it from one place and asking 'package discount please'

2012-01-19 07:10:00 | Yeah you can OC the 2500. The multiplier is just locked. Meaning it's just the FSB for you. | icow (15313) | |
2012-01-19 08:23:00 | Might just fork out for the i7 2600k. Will that run okay with the 560Ti? | xyz823 (13649) | |
2012-01-19 08:42:00 | I imagine it'd run pretty brilliantly, and then later on you can biff in another huge graphics card. | 8ftmetalhaed (14526) | |
2012-01-19 09:39:00 | Yeah a 460 can run at 40 fps on high i think. 560 should be great. | icow (15313) | |
2012-01-19 10:18:00 | Your MB will already produce 5.1 and/or 7.1 surround sound, getting a sound card is a waste of money. Personally, I would also consider a little bit bigger PSU, if I was building a similar system, 650W would be minimum for a high end i7. And stick with your 560Ti, as mentioned, it will run pretty sweet, and you can always put a newer generation card in later on if you need it. | Iantech (16386) | |
2012-01-19 12:59:00 | Do you have a decent headset and or headphones? If so then I'd get a sound card. | icow (15313) | |
2012-01-19 18:04:00 | I doubt you will find someone who can build and price match Pricespy Pricespy do not sell parts. They list parts by cheapest store. many cheap stores have no after sales support. I filter it by good stores first, then price.

On any normal PC speakers or headphones you're unlikely to notice a difference. Gone are the days when even a cheap soundcard made a huge improvement to pc sound quality. 560Ti by all accounts is a great card and any sandybridge processor from the i3 upwards will handle current games very well. The better CPU you get obviously the longer it will be capable of lasting in terms of performance. Pretty much all the options discussed would make a good PC, you just have to decide for yourself what you want. For gaming performance currently the GPU is most often the bottleneck so it makes sense to spend more money there and save it elsewhere. For other applications the CPU can be the most important bit, but for genral purpose computing they all have more than enough power these days. An i7 is awesome, and if you really have your heart set on one go for it. You won't be dissappointed. Just understand that only on highly threaded CPU intensive tasks like video encoding will you notice ANY improvement over an i5. |
