2012-01-19 22:11:00 | How can I find out what the password is on my router because I forgot it? I'm trying to log on with my wireless labtop. | lostsoul62 (16011) | |
2012-01-19 22:14:00 | Tell us the brand and model of the router. Then we will have a better idea of its IP number and usrid/password (if they haven't been changed!). | linw (53) | |
2012-01-20 02:28:00 | I hesitated slightly thinking what if it's not really your router..... Anyway the default username & password is often admin / admin no great secret there. Most routers also have a reset switch to put them back to default if you're really stuck. Note that accessing over wireless is not always reliable and you might have more luck over an ethernet cable connection. Unless it's the wireless network password you're talking about, in which case you need direct access to the router to find that.

2012-01-20 10:33:00 | In a nutshell, reset it. Slightly longer-winded: Unless you wrote it down underneath it you can't just "find it". That would be a security vulnerability. If you're talking about the Wifi password, then you need administrator access to a machine that currently has the password saved and you can extract it. Otherwise, again, you need access to your routers admin pages and if you can't login to that, then again, reset it as dugimodo said :)

I have a D-Link 524 and I tried "admin" also no password. I go into the wireless network page and it says "choose a network" there are 3 or 4 of them and one of them is my wife’s so who are the others? Do they belong to my neighbors? It ask for a password which I don't have so I guess the only way is to put in another router or reset the one I have which I don't want to do because my wife’s laptop is connected to it and I don't want to screw it up so I'm kind of lost. |

2012-01-21 22:53:00 | If I take a look at my wife’s laptop which is on the network is there any way I can find some information to get my laptop on the network or do I just have to reset the router? | lostsoul62 (16011) | |
