| 1254590 | 2012-01-17 00:19:00 | I have a Sandisk Cruzer 16GB USB stick. Yesterday I tried adding some files to it and I got the message 'disk write protected'. I checked for a physical write-protect button; there is none. I tried unticking the 'read-only' box in Windows (7) explorer but it wouldn't let me do it. I tried re-formatting the drive but still get the 'write-protect' message. I tried Sandisk and other storage websites for a disk utility tool. None of them work. I tried a registry edit which has been known to work before, but that didn't fix the issue. |

At message "Format cannot run because volume is in use ........ would you like to force a dismount on this volume? <Y/N>" press the 'Y' key. it may start to format - depending on the drive, it will take a minute or two. |
